Overview

Overview

This course is a complete reworking of the Embedded Systems course first offered at the University of Cape Coast in 2017. It uses Python 3 and ESP32 WeMos D1 mini boards in place of C and Raspberry Pi computers.

The lower-cost boards allow students to acquire their own hardware and undertake practical work at home. The modules can be assembled without soldering, with prototype boards available for custom hardware development.

For course enquiries, contact Isaac Armah-Mensah (iamensah@ucc.edu.gh) or Uli Raich (uli.raich@gmail.com).

Edge Computing

Modern microcontrollers can process data locally instead of transmitting everything to a more powerful computer. This can be useful when network access is limited or when data protection is important.
